The Marsh Novices’ Chase was introduced in 2011, making it one of the newer races at the Cheltenham Festival. It was originally known as the Golden Miller Novices’ Chase but changed its name due to the current sponsor.

The race is run on the new course at Cheltenham over a distance of approximately 2 miles and 4 furlongs and features seventeen fences.

Ruby Walsh is the leading jockey in the Marsh Novices’ Chase having won the race three times in consecutive years with Vautour in 2015, Black Hercules in 2016 and Yorkhill in 2017.
